Artifacts of Light and Memory

(Prints available soon!)
A photo series to benefit the restoration of the CB Holt Rock House, a historic African American home in Charlottesville, Virginia, built with stones hauled up by wagon from the Rivanna riverbed. Its history is colorful and complex- a home for a respected family living in the times of Jim Crow laws, a speak-easy, and finally an abandoned house of ill repute. This series reunites the home with its history and is a meditation on time, memory and origins.
These images are printed as 12” x 18” C-prints, sold at $75 each, with a limited run of 50 prints, signed and numbered.
The series was featured at the Charlottesville Community Design Center in July and August of 2005, and a full set of the photos is currently displayed in the rooms where they were taken in the newly-remodeled Rock House which houses offices for pro-bono legal services.
